What SKU Intelligence is

SKU Intelligence is a decision layer on top of your ERP data. It reads sales, item master, stock, WAC cost history, route activity, and customer activity. Then it tells you which products to push, review, re-price, reduce, or remove.

Owner: quick view of growth, dead stock, and money opportunities.

SKU

A sellable item code that the system tracks for revenue, margin, stock, and route performance.

BOM

Bill of Materials. This is the recipe of a product: raw materials, packing, or intermediate items used to make a finished item.

Brand sub category

The product type, like nuts, spices, or pulses. This is how the system groups similar products.

Route

A sales route or van route. The system checks where a SKU is already selling and where it can expand.

WAC

Weighted average cost. This helps estimate stock value and cost-based opportunity.

SAR impact

The money value of the recommendation. Higher SAR impact means a bigger business opportunity or risk.

Portfolio labels

These labels describe size, importance, stability, stock risk, coverage, and pricing health in a simple, repeatable way.

How a SKU is scored

The engine starts from net sales lines, keeps only valid sales transactions, and builds one score per item code. Then it adds item data, stock data, cost data, route data, and margin analysis.

Main score ingredients

Total value revenue size of the SKU
Net profit profit generated
Avg margin % average margin quality
Weekly velocity how fast it moves
Demand CV how stable or unstable demand is
Routes present how many routes already sell it

Stock and ageing logic

Stock pcs current stock quantity
Days of stock estimated number of days stock can last
Ageing days how long stock has been sitting
Slow mover item moving too slowly vs stock held

Classification families

BCG: market-style grouping such as Star, Cash Cow, Question Mark, Dog.
ABC: importance by value contribution.
XYZ: demand stability. X is stable, Z is more volatile.

What the actions mean

The system turns the score into a practical recommendation so the business knows what to do next.

PUSH

A strong item that sells in some routes and has room to grow in more routes.

RAISE PRICE / HOLD PRICE

Margin logic suggests the product may support a better price, or current pricing should be protected.

PROMOTE

Good product with room to improve movement through activation or visibility.

REVIEW

Mixed signals. Needs a human look because the system sees both good and bad signs.

REDUCE / REMOVE

Low-value or risky item with weak movement, poor stock health, or low commercial importance.

HOLD

Performance is stable. No major action is needed right now.

SAR impact logic

PUSH estimates extra profit from this SKU's own sales on new qualified routes. Margin actions estimate extra profit this period from a price change. Remove / reduce is stock at cost — do not add it to growth or margin SAR.

Simple BOM rule

Not every BOM item is a portfolio SKU. A BOM can contain raw materials, packing materials, or production-only items. These should not automatically appear as products.

When the system excludes an item

The item is tagged as BOM raw material or packing material.
Or it is a produced / assembled intermediate item.
And it has no sales in the period.

When the system keeps an item

If the item has sales, it stays in SKU Intelligence.
This protects sellable BOM-linked items from being hidden.
Example: bulk raw material that is also sold to customers.

Business meaning

The rule is simple: sold = keep, BOM-only and not sold = exclude. This keeps the portfolio clean while still showing anything that is truly commercial.

Summary

High-level business view: revenue, margin, opportunity, and overall portfolio health.

Scores

The ranked list of SKUs with recommendation, value, risk, and action priority.

Alerts

Important items needing fast attention, like ageing stock or margin risk.

Routes

Shows where products sell well and where route expansion is possible.

Customers

Shows top buying customers and helps explain who is driving a SKU.

Exports business-ready reports so the team can share decisions and actions quickly.
